Friday Sew Day....

Well it's Friday and we aren't going out of town so I really needed a day all to myself with my trusty sewing machine...I haven't been very creative in the last few months and it seems like I am making up for it now...I needed to make our Land Yacht (DH name for our motor home) cozy like home...so decided to make a table topper...I'm trying to incorporate more blue into the green fabric that is already on the chairs ,couch etc...I ordered fabric for the first time back in February and I was very pleased when it arrived the pictures didn't do it justice....now I can't wait to make another trip over to the coast and see how the table topper looks...
The chosen Fabric...

What ever would I do without Binding clips...

Almost finished....

Gotta add a little Love....

Quilting has taught me so much.....

First Quilt I ever made...

Look at all those Notes...
As I was thinking back I took my first Quilting class between 12 and 15 years ago...a beginners Quilting 101 class and I took a lot of notes I wanted to be sure to make every stitch perfect so it would fit all together....well as I have been making a few more difficult quilts over the years I am finding things don't always fit together perfectly I've spent many hours seam ripping and starting all over, I've even thrown blocks away out of frustration...what I have learned is nothing is perfect sometimes you just have to take your eyes off the imperfections and allow a little grace to take over...I've learned in the process of that Patience...I have to be patient with my machine, myself, the pattern I am working with etc...I've learned to think outside the box and create on my own, to do what I like on a project...even to the point that sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night with a pattern in my head and I have to draw it out so I don't forget...Quilting isn't just a hobby for me it is a lot of life lessons along the way...Grace, Mercy, Faith, Hope and whole lot of Love...

Happy New Years!!!

I have been reflecting all week leading up to the New Year on all that 2013 was to me...February our oldest Granddaughter turned 4...March Doug and I celebrated our 33rd Wedding Anniversary...April a dear Friend of ours announced he has Pancreatic cancer...May our oldest Grandson turned 1 years old...June our youngest Child turned 30 leaving behind his 20's...nothing much in July just a lot of hot weather...August our youngest Granddaughter was born...September flew by...October our youngest Grandson turned 1 years old...November was a wonderful Thanksgiving...December was filled with many eventful moments Kaitlyn put on a Christmas program with her preschool, some sad times came and went and our Jesus was Faithful all the time...Christmas came and went too quickly and the next thing you know were ringing in the new year...except Doug and I rang it in around 10:30pm...we have yet to stay up till midnight...I have a new goal with my reading and my sewing, a new journal, a new devotional and whole new year with a new beginning...Thank You Lord for a fresh new start....

Visions of sugar plumbs and all....

Hard to believe it's just over a month till Christmas...where has 2013 gone?...I love Fall so I'm not complaining but if time would slow down just a little bit that would be nice...I decided since time is moving so fast I wouldn't have much time to make a few decorations to add to my collection for Christmas so this weekend I made a table runner from McCall's Quick Quilts magazine and I think it turned out pretty cute...I made a couple changes to it adding my own personal touch...I'm really attracted to Aqua and Red this season...it was quick and fun to make and I used a Christmas charm pack for the circles...

Dog days of Summer....

School started today here, even though I don't have any children in school it makes me excited for Fall..school starts so much earlier now then it did when I was a kid we didn't go back unto September and then we had that labor day holiday the following weekend giving us a 3 day break again...I'm ready to pull out what is left of my summer garden and plant some lettuce, spinach and Acorn squash...I even started a new Fall table runner with some of those darling little mini charm packs...I went for a bold color combination to keep things colorful and bright...I've finished 3 Quilts ready to send to the Quilter and starting some of my Christmas sewing now because it will be here in no time...well I am off to the Fabric store...
